A Venue Close to My Heart

On the 28th of September 2024, I had the absolute privilege of photographing Emily and Kyle’s wedding at Farington Lodge in Leyland, Lancashire. And let me tell you, this wasn’t just any venue for me it was my very first job when I was 16! Talk about a nostalgic full-circle moment, right? I used to bust my ass for 12 hours a time for a measly £3.60 an hour whilst also studying for my GCSEs! But I loved it and made some life long mates on the way.

The History and Charm of Farington Lodge

Farington Lodge is an absolute gem of a wedding venue in the Northwest of England. This Grade II listed Georgian house was built way back in the 1830s (fancy) and was originally a family home for a guy called William Bashall, who co-owned Farington Cotton Mill. Fast forward to today, it’s a stunning venue with lush gardens, timeless architecture, and all the good vibes for a chilled yet classy wedding.

Meet the Couple: Mr. & Mrs. Shepherd

Emily and Kyle, now officially Mr. & Mrs. Shepherd (yay!), planned a super relaxed, traditional wedding day. But what made their day extra awesome was their adorable 3 year old son, Oakley. These two legends made sure Oakley was involved in every special moment of the day, from their morning prep to dancing the night away. Honestly, it was so heart warming to see how much family love was packed into this wedding.

Bridal Prep Goals

The bridal prep? Absolute goals. Emily looked stunning in her dress, and the bridal suite at Farington Lodge gave me major photography inspo—it’s got that perfect natural light every photographer dreams about. Speaking of details, Emily’s mum deserves a massive shoutout! She went all out decorating the wedding breakfast room, transforming it into a magical space filled with personal touches. What an angel!

A Ceremony Full of Love

The ceremony was classic, emotional, and filled with smiles (and maybe a few happy tears—no shame, dude). The grounds of Farington Lodge provided the perfect backdrop for their couple photos—think sweeping gardens, beautiful old trees, and all that Georgian charm. It’s honestly one of the most photogenic wedding venues in Lancashire.

Why I Loved This Wedding

As a wedding photographer in Lancashire, this wedding was such a blast to shoot not just because Farington Lodge is a dream venue, but because Emily and Kyle are the kind of couple who make you remember why you love this job so much. Their families welcomed me with open arms, plus their bridal and grooms party were such a laugh.
