Chloe & James' Twilight Wedding at St Ambrose & Farington Lodge – A Lancashire Love Story
When Chloe and James told me they were having a twilight wedding in November, I knew it was going to be a good one. The last of the autumn leaves were hanging on, and there was that crisp November air that makes you want to grab a cuppa (or something stronger). No long, drawn-out waiting around—straight into a cosy evening wedding with a great atmosphere.
Getting Hitched at St Ambrose, Leyland
The day kicked off at St Ambrose Church in Leyland, a great spot for a wedding with its historic charm and welcoming vibe. The vicar? Absolute legend. He had everyone laughing while keeping things running smoothly, which is exactly what you want when you’re standing up in front of a crowd promising to love each other forever.
Chloe and James became Mr & Mrs Clare, with their little lad Henry making sure he got plenty of attention. At just three years old, he was front and centre, keeping everyone entertained and making sure Mum and Dad's big day had plenty of personality.
Laid-Back Celebrations at Farington Lodge
After the ceremony, it was time to head over to Farington Lodge Hotel for the reception. If you’ve not been, it’s a proper gem—a Grade II listed Georgian house built in the early 1800s. Over the years, it’s been a family home, a council building, and now one of Lancashire’s best wedding venues. It’s got character, plenty of space, and some cracking gardens for photos.
Chloe and James went for a relaxed wedding buffet, which meant no awkward three-course meals or waiting around for food. Just grab a plate, pile it high, and get back to chatting, dancing, and enjoying the night. Smart move, if you ask me!
Why South Ribble is a Top Spot for a Wedding
For those not familiar, South Ribble (where Leyland and Farington are) is a cracking place to get married. It’s got a bit of everything—historic churches, countryside backdrops, and great venues, all within easy reach of Preston. Whether you’re after a laid-back hotel do, a barn wedding, or something totally different, you’ll find it here.
Snapping the Best Bits
As a wedding photographer covering Lancashire, Preston, and Leyland, I’m all about keeping things natural and fun. No awkward poses, no forced smiles—just proper moments, as they happen. Twilight weddings have a brilliant atmosphere, and once the evening kicked in, the lights, the laughs, and the buzz of everyone having a great time made for some cracking shots.
If you're planning a wedding in Lancashire and want photography that actually feels like you, let's chat. Whether it's Leyland, Preston, or anywhere in South Ribble, I'll be there—camera in hand, capturing the good stuff (and probably eyeing up the buffet too).
Thinking of a Twilight Wedding?
Chloe and James’ wedding showed how good a twilight wedding can be. If you’re not fussed about a long daytime do and want something a bit different, go for it! The atmosphere is brilliant, and it makes for some really cool photos.
