A Rainy Yet Magical Wedding Day at Worden Hall: Rebeckah & Tom's Laid-Back Celebration
As a wedding photographer based in Leyland, Lancashire, I have the awesome job of of capturing real down to earth weddings all across the beautiful Northwest, from Preston and Chorley to South Ribble and beyond. On September 22nd, 2024, I had the honor of photographing Rebeckah and Tom’s wedding at the stunning Worden Hall in Leyland’s Worden Park. Despite the rain, their big day was flipping awesome.
Rebeckah and Tom’s wedding was a true reflection of their relaxed and easy-going personalities. Rebeckah, a calm and collected bride, set the tone for the day. It was all about enjoying the moment and celebrating with their nearest and dearest—no stress, no fuss, just love. And honestly? That vibe carried through every part of their wedding, making it such a joy to photograph. I've honestly never met such a chilled bride and super mum, still organising and dressing her little ones whilst getting ready for her big day.
A Touch of Green Elegance
The wedding party looked absolutely stunning. The bridesmaids wore light green dresses that perfectly complemented the lush greenery of Worden Park’s formal gardens. Rebeckah’s daughter and niece were adorable as flower girls, sprinkling petals with the sweetest smiles, while the couple’s young sons took on the roles of page boys, bringing charm and energy to the occasion. Every detail was thoughtfully chosen, including a lovely little gift basket Tom gifted to Becky on the morning, and the simplicity of their attire added to the natural beauty of the day. The pair shared a special moment before they got wed just to hold hands behind a door and have a moment of calm to be with each other before they became centre of attention, something they were both a little nervous about.
Making the Most of a Rainy Day
Ah, the British weather! It was one of those classic rainy days that wedding photographers in the Northwest know all too well. But Rebeckah and Tom didn’t let it dampen their spirits. In true Lancashire style, we embraced the weather, waiting for those golden breaks in the rain to venture outside for photos.
The formal gardens and conservatory at Worden Park provided a picturesque backdrop for their wedding portraits. The rain actually added a romantic touch, with droplets glistening on leaves and soft, diffused light creating a dreamy atmosphere. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love wedding photography—finding beauty in every situation and capturing it forever.
A Ride on the Model Train
One of the highlights of the day was a unique and fun experience provided by the Leyland Society of Model Engineers. Rebeckah and Tom, along with their guests, hopped aboard the miniature railway for a memorable ride around Worden Park. It was such a playful touch to their wedding day and gave everyone, kids and adults alike, a chance to let loose and enjoy something different.
For anyone planning a wedding in Leyland or South Ribble, I can’t recommend Worden Park enough. And if you’re looking for a quirky addition to your celebration, definitely check out the Leyland Society of Model Engineers—their model train rides are a hit with all ages!
An Informal Buffet Fit for Family and Friends
In keeping with their laid-back approach, Rebeckah and Tom opted for an informal buffet instead of a traditional sit-down wedding breakfast. There was no seating plan—a choice that spoke volumes about their values. To them, every guest was equally important, and they wanted everyone to mingle, laugh, and feel at home. The result was a warm, relaxed atmosphere filled with lively conversation and plenty of delicious food.
